Obituary of Arthur Gentle

Gentle, Arthur Thomas of Aylmer and formerly a longtime resident of Barrie passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the age of 92. Beloved husband and soulmate of Freda May Gentle(2023). Loving father of Selwin (Lynn). Proud grandfather of Derek (Thelma), John (Saubyah), Robert and great-grandfather of Elijah, Arianna, Athena and Alijah. Arthur is predeceased by his siblings. He was born in Parkstone, Poole, England on December 26, 1931, son of the late Arthur and Hilda (Lewis) Gentle. Arthur was educated as a machinist in England and came to Canada in 1966. He worked at Spar Aerospace at Malton. In later years, he became a partner at Knappe Wooden Furniture where he kept the machines running. Arthur will be missed by extended family members and dear friends. In keeping with Arthur's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held for Arthur and Freda at a later date. If desired, donations in Arthur's memory may be made to The War Amps and are greatly appreciated by the family.
