I think I can tell you now that when I was little, and you were visiting with Mum and Dad, I used to sneak into the cab of your truck and try and chat on your CB radio. I'm sure you knew... Lots of lovely memories of your visits. Sending love and condolences to your family. Sending prayers up for you. Rest peacefully Uncle Arthur. Love, Nikki x

Our deepest condolences to Selwin, Lynn and all of Art’s family.
My wife’s sister Mary and her husband Denis emigrated to Canada in the mid 60’s and became friends with Arthur through a bowling league in Downsview I think.
Freda, Art and Selwin took a trip to England in the early70’s and because Mary was my wife’s sister, they all came to visit us, no mean feat back then driving from the South coast all the way to Hoylake where we lived. Selwin was a young boy but as I recall all he could chat about was trains and of one day becoming a train driver.
When we emigrated in 1973, we went to live in Galt where Denis and Mary were living and Arthur would visit all of us quite often, despite our pressing him to stay over and driving back in the morning he always insisted on getting back to Freda no matter how late it was.
This was the course of life more or less for the next 50 years, Art has visited us in many of the homes we have had and as my work took us overseas Art even visited us in Japan and in Mexico.
He really was a true and faithful friend, he was as a special uncle to my three daughters who even today refer to him as Uncle Arthur, he was the official photographer at all of their weddings.
Arthur’s life was well lived even for one who had such a hard upbringing, but he always spoke very highly of his years at Dr. Barnardo’s. Notwithstanding his disability he carved out a good life for his family and always loved to brag about his grandchildren.
Uncle Arthur, our friend, will be missed, he has left this earth to progress to whatever comes next and for those of us who are believers he is now safely at home with Freda. All earthly suffering gone.
Love Margaret and Bernie

Art was a part of our “family “ for 25 years. It was a blessing to share his stories of his youth in England. He watched our family grow and change and supported us through thick and thin. I will always think of Art and his love of photography (and to those that knew him… photographic evidence..) the world gained an angel. Blessed you are reunited with Freda. Our family will miss you.
