Obituary of Don Baker

Baker, Donald of Aylmer (previously Forest) passed away peacefully with his son by his side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Marie Baker(Poirier). Dear father of Jim Baker(Robin) of Saline, Michigan, Janet Dalzell(Brian) of Bobcaygeon, John Baker(Kate) of Aylmer. Loving grandfather of Mitchell, Bailey, Jaime(Sean), Scott(Lynn), Christopher (deceased) Carly(Andrew) and Allyson(Scott) Jenny (Geoff) Justin (Nikki) Lars and Jayla. Proud great-grandfather of Olivia, Alyssa, Madison, Rylie, Carter, Elliott, Beckham, Sebastian, Oliver, Evan, Ryan, Laura and Cinder. Stepfather to Paulette (Hill), Marc (Ann) and Mike (Janice) and Nicole Poirier. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Survived by his sister Margaret MacFarlane. Predeceased by brothers Walter, Ron and sisters Mona and Dorothy. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick on October 24, 1935. Don moved to Ontario in the early 1950’s and became a renowned crane operator where he made many life-long friendships. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (local 793) for over 60 years and also loved hockey and hunting. Don and Marie lived in Forest, Ontario after his retirement, prior to that he spent many years involved in minor hockey around the Lakeview, Port Credit and Cawthra areas of Mississauga in the 70s and 80s.
