Obituary of Carolyn Macdonald

Macdonald, Carolyn of St. Thomas and formerly of Aylmer, passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, January 9, 2023 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late John A. “Jack” Macdonald(2001). Loving mother of John Macdonald(Michele Frappier) of Port Stanley. Proud grandmother of Jeffery Macdonald(Jessie), Devon Macdonald(Trista) and Brooklyn Dalby(Dallas). Great-grandmother of Addie and Kace. Sister of Pat Jamieson (Ian), Della Derrough (Max), Donna Jean Charters (late Ron), Ken Derrough (late Audrey), Judy Adcock (Wayne), Brian Gleeson (late Ursula), Mary Minnekeer (Marcel), late Brenda Crouse(Larry), William Gleeson (Chris), Michael Gleeson, and the late Patrick Gleeson (Cathy), late Art Derrough(late Dorothy) and late Kay MacArthur(late Bill).  She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario on March 30, 1938, daughter of the late Arthur and Eileen (Lougheed) Derrough.    Carolyn was part of the Stan and Donna Doan family since she was nine years old. Carolyn was a nurse at the East Elgin Secondary School, Arthur Voaden Secondary School, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and Chateau Gardens. She volunteered her time driving for the Cancer Society. Carolyn was celebrated for her community commitment when she was awarded, Citizen of the Year for the Town of Aylmer. She was dedicated to her faith community as well. She was a devoted member of the Aylmer Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship assisting with luncheons, playing in the Hillbilly band, in the bells choir and participating in the Women’s Association. She will be dearly missed by the Aylmer Ladies Breakfast Club. Visitation will be held at the  H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday from 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
