Sincerest condolences to Mari, Roxi and family.
It was July 20, 1969 when Pete invited us to watch the first moon landing live on his "large screen" black & white TV. As we sat in complete awe at the moving images before us in Pete and Mari's living room, he must have known what an historic day it was as he and Mari so generously shared this event with us, since we did not have a TV. I will always remember where I was during the first lunar landing.
Pete loved ice cream and I recall he would sometimes take a bunch of us to to the local Aylmer ice cream parlor in his 1959 Chevy Impala, a car that had tail wings so big it could easily take flight at the right speed. Well, at least in my 10-year-old mind. Eating ice cream in a flying car was a special treat.
Pete would naturally shy away from any notion of self aggrandizement or boasting and so it would be left to others who knew him to point out his generous nature, top quality work and intelligence.
Pete, to say you will be missed is an understatement.
