Obituary of Velma Maidment
Maidment, Velma of Thorndale peacefully passed away at the Parkwood Hospital Palliative Unit on the evening of Thursday, August 5, 2021 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Earl Maidment. Loving aunt of Heather Routly, Denise Routly, Scott Routly(Brenda) and great-aunt of Kurt Routly. Dear stepmother of Marie(Dave), Len(June), Earla, Dan and Pauline(Greg). Sadly missed by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close cousin Muriel. Predeceased by her parents Wilma(Church) and Norman Routly and brother Floyd Routly. Velma was a member of the Thorndale United Church, the Eastern Star and a strong supporter of the Liberal Party. She worked as a legal secretary at Lerners Law Firm in London as an assistant to Earl Cherniak. Velma enjoyed traveling, gardening and barbecues with the family. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at the Aylmer Cemetery with family and close friends. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
