Obituary of Jim May

James (Jim) May passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, St. Thomas, Ontario on Friday, February 26, 2021 in his 94 th year, with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. Beloved husband of Rosemarie (Rose) May. Loving father to Ron(predeceased) (Vallerye), and Doug (Sharon). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Bryan (Kristin), Kevin (Lisa), and Melissa (Sebastian), Eric, and Zachary (Victoria) and great-grandchildren, James, Kennedy, Ronan, Keegan, and Seamus. Son of the late Alexander May and Annis Archer, Jim was born near London on Oct 19, 1927. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings John, George, Annis, Ron (twin), Archie, Bill, Betty, Alex, and Bob. He is survived by a sister, Ann. Jim began working at a young age. Notably he worked for Imperial Oil lines on the Great Lakes, and the Sarnia-Lambton school board, before joining Polysar in 1964 as a Stationary Engineer until his retirement in 1992. Jim spent most of his adult life in Sarnia until coming to enliven the home of Doug and Sharon in 2019. A self-proclaimed “vagabond”, Jim’s travels took him to Mexico (in his trusted ‘55 VW Bug), Turkey, India, Hawaii, England, and Holland. Jim loved his dogs, helping others, fishing, and spending time on the Bruce. Above all else, Jim’s mission was to love and care for his family. A life well lived was the fodder for stories that were as tall as he was short. Our thanks to Dr. Toth, Dr. McIntyre, and the 5 th floor nursing staff at STEGH, especially, Ann, Felicia, Jenna, Kayla, and Jordan for you excellent care and compassion. At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place with private internment of ashes to follow. Donations to the SARNIA AND DISTRICT SOCIETY FOR PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, 131 Exmouth Street, Sarnia, Ontario N7T 7W8 would be appreciated.
