What a character, Jim amd Rose provided our family vacation on the Bruce for 34 yrs, our kids couldn't wait to get there, didn't want to go anywhere else. Get up there and have fun Jim would say, No TV, it's family time. Best times of our lives.I would have to slot in 1-1.5 hrs, when I went to pay him, for our chat which included everything from Saudia Arabia to dew worms. I looked forward to it every year. If the world was run by Jim's values we would all be better off. He just loved Patty, if he got a little lippy, Patty would say, don't get mouthy with me "short stop" and a big grin would cover his face. His love for his family and animals was obvious. Talked about them all the time. You would always part Jims company a little smarter and feeling a little better. The world has lost a Special man, heaven will never be the same. Ya-see now! Dear Doug and the May family,
I am saddened to read of your father’s passing. I was a high school friend and university roommate of your brother Ron. I had not seen Jim in about 30 years but I have such fond memories of him. He was such a friendly and gregarious man. I remember vividly his dogs, his well maintained VW bug, that took us safely back and forth to Waterloo, and his cottage in the Bruce, where Ron hosted his roommates for a brief stay. I am sad to read that he has died but happy to know that he lived a long life. My thoughts are with you as you mourn his passing but more importantly celebrate the life that you had together.
Sincerely,
Phil Litrenta

I extend my condolences to Doug and family. I have memories of Uncle Jim chewing my ear and getting it all wet as a “loving greeting” and then I’d run over to get a big sweet smelling hug from my beautiful Aunt Rose. I always thought she looked just like a movie star with her dark, glossy hair and brightly coloured lipstick. I last had a wonderful phone chat with my uncle Jim on his 90th birthday. Still full of wonderful stories to tell. I hope, through your heart break, you will be able to celebrate a life lived fully and admirably! The definition of a self made man! Despite many sorrows and challenges, beginning at the young age of 12 (I believe) with the loss of his mom, he lived with such kindness, always helped others and loved all living creatures.
With heartfelt sympathies,
Sherry Nichols(nee Pulham, daughter of Ann(May) and Clarence)

My family and I owe Jimmy May more than we could ever thank him for. Over 30 years of family vacations and everlasting memories. My best memories are at the cottage in Tobermory. Rest easy Jim. Thanks for everything.
