Joan was my therapist from1977 to 1983. She talked to me on the phone many times for free and for years after I was her patient, plus, she wrote back to my letters for years. I feel she is always a friend inside of me. She cared for me so well. I love her smile. I remember she said, "Why can' t you have a sexy mom!". Then my mother became my best friend. The other thing is she told me tell a guy I was dating, that he needed to use scope mouthwash, and that got rid of him for me. The world is a better place thanks to her and Lou. Farewell with love!! Joan Ormont was my analyst for 25 years and my colleague and friend for 23 years. She helped me raise my children and find satisfaction and meaning in my life. She was a role model, encouraging me to become an analyst, teacher and writer. I loved her very much and admired her intelligence and her ability to enjoy her aggression without ever sacrificing her elegant femininity. My grandchildren never knew her, but they owe her an enormous debt of gratitude. Rest In Peace, dear Joan. You were a blessing in my life and the lives of my family.

To Joan's Family,
As a student of CGS, I am compelled to extend my sympathies as you mourn the loss of Joan. I hope that my sharing of my appreciation of her brings comfort to you amid the many beautiful memories you have of her that will lighten your sadness at this time.
l had the remarkable opportunity to meet and learn from Joan. She was always kind and welcoming of me. Joan demonstrated, together with Lou, the technique of co-leadership in some of the Weekend Training Programs' Sunday Colloquim that I enjoyed tremendously. It was a very special opportunity to observe and learn from her frank, warm, humorous and so sensitive attunement to both Lou and the entire group. She inspired me deeply with her gentle strength. I am so, so deeply grateful to have been her student, as well as Lou's. Their work was truly life-changing and sustaining for me to this day and influences all that I do.
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers of support to your family.

Joan was my supervisor while I was getting my doctorate. She had amazing insights and freely shared them while shaping my program into a worthwhile endeavor for me. Her dry sense of humor helped me over many hurdles. The world has lost a gem. RIP dearest Joan.
