Obituary of Darrell Kington
Kington, Darrell Alfred of Dorchester passed away at London Health Science Centre-University Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in his 71st year. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancie Irving. Dear father of Angela Kington Patterson (Chris) of Dorchester, Teri Kington of Whitehorse YT, Stephanie Findlater of Golden BC, Matthew Findlater of Windsor ON. Loving grandfather of Trenton, Jordyn and Darrian. Brother of Brian Kington (Mary), Bryan Van Patter (Kim), Mary Wren (Stephen), Penny Dickens, Earleen Dickens. Son-in-law of Joyce Irving. Brother-in-law of Gail Freeman (Bill), Glenn Irving, Bill Irving (Shelley), and Tim Irving (Iza). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in St. Thomas on February 14, 1947, son of the late Alfred Kington (Eileen) and the late Margaret (Jones) Dickens.
Darrell volunteered many hours within the community – Optimist Club of North Dorchester (Bike Rodeos), North Dorchester Agricultural Society (various positions), founding member of the Thames Centre - Dorchester Citizens on Patrol and Thames Centre – Dorchester Community Policing Committee. He served on the Thames Centre Police Services Board. He worked at IBM Canada for over 30 years, and after retirement worked part-time at the Dorchester Home Hardware.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception at noon, at the Thames Centre Flight Exec Centre Auditorium, 2066 Dorchester Road. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the LHSC Foundation (University Hospital ICU) or the Optimist Club of North Dorchester would be appreciated.
