Obituary of William Kavanagh
Kavanagh, William Michael passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Ruth-Anne (Horton) Kavanagh. Dear father of Michael Kavanagh(Karen) of London, Pat Kavanagh(Ellen) of Petrolia and Steve Kavanagh(Linda) of Aylmer. Grandfather to Holli(Tyler), Sheldon(Chelsea), Morgan, Dayna(Andy),Tyler, Stephanie, Nicole(Mark) and Tyler John. Great-grandfather of Brooklynn and Raelynn. Predeceased by his wife Frances Rose(Kearney) Kavanagh(1999). Born in Montreal Quebec on July 05, 1936, son of the late Michael and Holly (Knight) Kavanagh. During his 40 year career in policing, Bill served as a motorcycle patrol officer in Montreal (Westmount). He transferred to Petrolia Police Department in 1974 and to Aylmer as Chief of Police in 1979. In 1987, he became the Deputy-Chief of St.Thomas Police Service. He was the past president of the Aylmer Shrine Club. Bill was Aylmer citizen of the year in 2009. Bill was a member of the Ontario and Canada Chief of Police Associations, Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Mocha Temple, Order of Good Cheer, Rotary Club of Aylmer and St. Thomas and the Grandfather House. “Throughout the years, Bill made many lasting and meaningful relationships. He will be remembered for his engaging personality and sense of humour.”
Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Masonic Service Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 am.
