Obituary of Michael Rokeby

Michael Collinson Rokeby July 5, 1928 - September 15, 2011 On the first day of his 55th apple harvest, Michael Collinson Rokeby was called to harvest a bigger crop in the perfect orchard of heaven. Born on July 5, 1928 in Simcoe, Ontario, he leaves behind, to carry on his traditions and his last harvest on earth, his beloved wife Linda, his children Cathy (Glen) Underwood, Patricia McCabe (late Ken) Michelle (Kevin) Baker, Connie (Greg) Prichard, Bert (Tiffany) Rokeby, Allan (Joanne) Rokeby, Denise Payne (Caers), Joey (Stephanie) Caers, Jonathan Lee Caers and new daughter Laila Ismail. Loving grandfather of Ben, Brodie, Brianna, Zachary, Patrick, Peter, Jenny and Chris, Kirk and Shoshanna, Lucas, Alison, Damian, William (Boobah), Madison, Raine and Hunter. Survived by his sister Lucy Demsey (late Ira), brother Canon Richard Rokeby (Jane), "little brother Jack Beamer (late Sheila), sister -in-law Helen Rokeby and many,many nieces nephews and extended family both related and chosen. Predeceased by his parents Conrad and Sarah Rokeby, brothers Allan, Tom, Noel (Shirley) and sister Sheila. Michael passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was a man for all seasons. His zest for life was tremendous as were all his birthday parties. Remembered always for his love of his orchard , his family, his community and his country. We will be missing you in apple blossom time. The family will receive friends at the Aylmer Legion , 211 John St. N, Aylmer on Sunday 2-5 pm and on Monday 7-9 pm. A legion service will be held at 7 pm Monday. A service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 170 John St. N, Aylmer on Tuesday September 20, 2011 at 11:00 am . Following the funeral luncheon Michael 's cremated remains will be scattered in his apple orchard.
