Thoughts of Aunt Vi always bring me a smile. As a child it was often difficult for me to get a sense of someone when the map indicated that they lived thousands of miles away but my Mom and Dad each imparted such a respect and admiration for "Viola" that I knew she must be someone very special. So as an adult I came to realize on my own that Auntie Vi was one of the "touchstones" in my mind when I reflect on Family. Aunt Viola has been a true role model for me - a realistic, practical, straight-forward, hard-working, get-it-done attitude blended with caring, compassion, and generosity. I will be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the McFarlane Family home a few summers ago - to see the same black & white photos of relatives on her piano that I'd grown up looking at on our own piano in my childhood home in Southern Alberta --- the experience brought "real life" to my Family Tree. My dear cousins - Donna, Marjorie, Isabel, Shirley, and Pat - you were each so important to your Mom!!! and took such lovely care of her in her elder years. She is there in each one of you and in your families as well. My heart is with you all. There will be a GRAND REUNION in heaven this week !!!

Dear Donna, Marjorie, Isabel, Shirley. Pat and all your families: Thank you for the many wonderful memories spent with the McFarlane Family over the years. Your mom was a wonderful warm and caring person. I was honoured to consider her as our Auntie Viola. She always had a wonderful smile. She was so proud of you five daughters, your husbands, grandchildren, great grandchildren and then great great grandchildren. As Isabel said to me this morning she is a better place. I want to think she visiting with Uncle Don, My Dad, Ron and Floyd. May many happy times spent together give you all comfort now and in the days ahead. May God's love surround you all and give you peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending you hugs and much love Phyllis, Blair, Ashley, and Carrie Williamson

"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day." The five of you couldn't have been any better daughters taking care of her for so many years. Hats off to your husbands too. I will always remember her in the orchard getting apples for the winter with Donna.
