I knew Edna for most of my life but the greatest moment was when she and Blake allowed their precious daughter, Lynda, to become my wife. Lynda and her mother are so much alike that many times I would call her 'little Edna'. That is the best compliment a mother can have. She loved her children so much and when we had a daughter, Deanna, she was there willing to help Lynda and I. I remember when we lived in Windsor that Lynda and I both were so sick with the flu that she got in the car and came from Aylmer to nurse us back to health and care for Deanna. It had to be difficult for her to let me take Lynda to Texas when we moved there but she didn't put up a fuss and came to visit often with Blake. When Deanna married Bratcher she was so proud of having a doctor in the family, introducing him to people as Deanna's husband, the doctor. When her great grandson, Blake, came into her life she enjoyed talking about him and showing her picture around Chelsea Park. Even up to the last few days of her wonderful and full life she was so concerned whether we had sold our house in Lufkin as she would ask Blake daily if we had. She and Blake had so much love for each other and I can only wish that my 'little Edna' can continue to be the same kind of loving person that Edna was. I'm sorry I can't be there with the family at this time but I want you all to know that I love you all very much and that your good wife, Blake is now sitting with Jesus as I write this.

My sincere condolences to the family. Edna was a wonderful lady. She took me under her wing when I started my career with the Ministry of Natural Resources as a young girl out of school. She taught me a lot and showed me the ropes. If you needed advice or guidance, Edna was the one the go to. It's 31 years later and I'm still with MNR and getting ready for my own retirement. Edna was also instrumental in finding my husband of 27 years. Edna made me wait on him at the counter when he came in for an interview saying that this one is for you Joanne. I'll always remember her wit, charm and "tell it like it is" attitude. You taught me a lot Edna, and your wisdom has helped through the years. I've thought of you often over the years.
