I am deeply saddened to hear of Gord passing. I spoke to him in the end of February and i was suppose to see him on Thursday the 1st. I called to reschedule b/c I had the flu. I find out now that he didn't return my call because he was already in the hospital and has now passed away.
He was a sweet man who spoke very highly of his son and his family and his love of flying. He always had a smile on his face and was upbeat even when he wasn't feeling that well.
I will miss him.
My thoughts go out to his son and his family.

Dear Randall, For over 80 years, your Dad touched the hearts of many people, myself included. His mild-manner and his soft-spoken voice were so calming and peaceful. I wish I could be there with you today as you lay your Dad to rest. Please know that you and your family have been in my thoughts all day today. All of the Xuerebs send prayers to you and we all agreed to offer up our Ash Wednesday masses for you. You are close in our hearts. Love, George, Michael, Jean, Hilda, George Senior and Steve

I met Gord in 2004, on his first return trip to Saskatchewan, the 60th Anniv. of earning his wings in BCATP at 15 SFTS Yorkton Aug. 25, 1944. We have been friends and corresponded by e-mail and telephone since then. I told Gord that if he made the trip again on the 65th Anniv. that he would be my guest and I would show him the things that he missed seeing on his first trip - BCATP Museum, Brandon, MB, Western Development Museum and 15 Wing CFB Moose Jaw, SK, Regina sights and Armouries Museum. This was one of the best experiences of my life and Gord really enjoyed the tour, particularly visiting 15 Wing and seeing the Snowbird Hangar, etc. Aug. 26, 2009, after visiting 15 Wing and the western Development Museum in Moose Jaw, we barbequed chicken for supper surprised Gord with a birthday cake and gifts - my wife and I singing Happy Birthday, also. Dianne and I sent a couple of packages of Saskatoon Berries back with Gord, which Mary Csikos used to bake him some tarts that Gord shared with her. Gord was like the kind and gentle father that I never had. He will be dearly missed, however always remembered and his gentle spirit will be felt forever.

We wish to send our feelings of deepest sympathy regarding the passing of my dear friend Gord to his son Randall. Gord filled my life, since we met seven years ago, with the joy of his two visits to Saskatchewan and his daily e-mail correspondence. Gord will be missed, however the presence of his gentle spirit will be felt forever.

Randy...we are so sorry for your loss. We know how close you and your father were. It was wonderful that your Dad made several trips to Australia which he enjoyed very much. He was SO proud of your accomplishments and the man you have become. I particularly got to know my Uncle Gord better in recent years and it was wonderful getting to know him better. He was very proud of his Aviation experiences and loved to share his log book of flying adventures. He had a hearty laugh (just like you, Randy) and enjoyed family gatherings. Thinking of you at this very sad time. Love - Debi
