Irene Laidlaw was a neighbour to my family and I and she always was a sweet, gentle and giving person to everyone. When my Mom was short on money she would give my mother flowers from her grand garden. I remember as a child going to her house just a couple doors down to visit her and Murray. We would play in her garden which to us as kids was a wonderful place where you imagination could run wild ! She would sit and chat with my mom about flowers and we also always loved every chance we could get to go there and swing on her porch swing. She was always polite. I remember when Murray was still around and they both were as happy as can be to share their lives together. You could truly see the love they shared together. That is something that was clear to everyone that knew them. Once Murray died she seemed to lose that zest for life that she has before, which obviously exposed that he was the love of her life. As my sisters and I got older and we got more and more busy we never really got the chance to see her as often which i regret when she was such a caring lady. The last time I visited her was during the 30 Hour Famine held by her church when she told us stories of her experience going hungry. As i sat there and listened you could honestly tell that her faith was especially important to her. Irene helped as much as she could in her church and had many friends who were there to help her when she needed it, returning the favour she had given so many times. Once our family knew she was in the hospital we were planning on going to visit, but she already has passed. I know that she is no longer in pain and is in a place she believes in and is with her true love Murray. She is happier now and I will never be able to forget such a amazing woman! My family would like to say to her family that we are sorry for their loss and that she will be a lady that is greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Love,
