Obituary of Robert Mills

Mills, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday July 23, 2009. Rev. Canon Robert A.C. Mills of Aylmer in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Jean (Smith) Mills (1989). Dear father of Susan and husband Bent Sangill of Byron, Brenda and husband Raymond Clarke of Union, and Hilary and husband Greg Marsh of London. Loved by his grandchildren Jason, Stephen, Julie, Catherine and Eric. Great grandfather of David. Brother of Kathleen Redeker of Toronto. Born in Detroit, Michigan on September 15, 1922, the son of the late Archibald and Madeline (Clarke) Mills. Bob was veteran of W.W. II and served as a flying officer in the RCAF from 1942-1945. Later he was a member of the Essex Scottish Regiment. Canon Mills came to Aylmer in 1969 and was the Rector at Trinity Anglican Church until his retirement in 1991.Ordained in 1954 he was rector at Hyde Park, Kirkton, Watford, Byron and Aylmer and the Rural Dean in each area. Canon Mills had been the padre of the Royal Canadian Legion, Aylmer, chaplain of the Aylmer Police College and member of the Elgin County Board of Education for a number of years. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, Aylmer on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 11:00 am. The Rt. Rev. Terry Dance, Suffragon, Bishop of Norfolk officiating. Burial of Ashes in Windsor at a later date.Donations to the Anglican Primate World Relief Development Fund, VON or The Diabetes Association appreciated.
