I am one of the eight contemporaries of Bob Mills ordained Deacon with him in 1954 and similarly priested the following year. I served in Grand Bend and Thedford when Bob was Rector of Watford, each of us in the Deanery of Lambton, and we used to visit back and forth and attend meetings together in those early days. Later, when I was serving in Paris, Ontario, Bob was Rector of St. Anne's, Byron, and when he moved on to Aylmer, I succeeded him in Byron, where for the next 18 years I had Bob's mother Madeline as a treasured parishioner -- and also as active and valued parishioners for the latter part of those years Bob's daughter Susan and Bent and family. Until a decade ago I used to see Bob from time to time and I am greatly saddened by his passing. He now joins Errol Shilliday and Syd Lupton, who have also gone on to God's Other Country (as Bishop Luxton used to call Heaven). I know that Cy Ladds, Jack Bielby, Bill Rowles and I survive him. (I don't know about Ed Attwell and Chuck Wilkins.) I'm sure they feel diminished by Bob's death as I do, as we become increasingly a vanishing breed. We had a great day, however, and I was proud to be Bob's friend -- and colleague in ministry, even to the same dear people at St. Anne's! My hearfelt sympathy to Susan, Bent, and all the Mills family who have lost their Father, Grandpa, and friend. I live in Wiarton, a fair distance from Aylmer, and on top of that am just recovering from a nasty case of shingles, so regrettably wont be able to attend the funeral. Bob and his family with be in my thoughts and prayerful remembrance on Tuesday morning. God bless them and all who chance to read these words. (Rev'd Canon) Morley E. Pinkney
