I had the opportunity and honour to to deliver Last Rites and also the eulogy at my fathers funeral on July 14/2012.
Maybe the words of live, light and peace and Divine Blessings may help others as we are alive to be brighter Lights for ourselves and others.
RIP Cst/Deputy Chief (Retd) Wayne Lamoure Feb13/48- July 10/2012
The Diamond of Reality and the Diamond of Wayne Lamoure
"Its not who you are that holds you back, its who you think that you're not that does"- It is ourselves that holds us back and prevents us from defining the facets of our diamond and living our dreams and loving our seasons in the sun.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted
"Darkness is not a reality. It exists and yet it does not exist. It is absence."
OSHO´s explanation about difference between two realms: earth (as realm of darkness) and sun (light realms)...->
"There is an old Hindu story. Once darkness went to god and appealed and said, 'I have not done anything wrong, but your sun every morning goes on chasing me, for no reason at all, and I am tired of running away from here to there, and the sun goes on chasing me round the earth! This is unjust.'
God said, 'I will call the sun.' The sun was called, and god asked the sun, 'Why do you go on creating trouble for my darkness? She has not done anything wrong to you. This is unjust.'
The sun was surprised. He said, 'I have never come across her. What are you talking about? What do you mean by darkness? I have never come across anything like that. Please call her in front of me.'
The case is still in the files. God has been trying but it is impossible to call darkness in front of the sun. It is not possible in the nature of things because darkness is not a reality. It exists and yet it does not exist. It is absence."
~ Osho ~ "The Discipline of Transcendence, Vol 1
As such, darkness is absence and what we may perceive to be the absence of life in Dad represents darkness. But that is faulty logic. We will miss him physically present and, yes… that is a huge hole and absence of presence, but does anyone here like diamonds?
We know that there are 4 factors that are important in a diamond. These are the cut, clarity, carat and colour of the diamond. Ultimately, these 4 characters will drive the 5th element of the diamond, which is the cost of the stone.
Reflecting on Wayne, we see that he had many aspects and facets of the diamond that he was and still is to all of us. There were the facets of policing, the air cadets, Peacekeeper Park, Civil War historian, animal lover, man of the people, loving husband, father and grandfather with an ability to spin a story (often the same one time again) and hopes, goals and dreams infused with a dry sense of humour.
I have been fortunate to receive hundreds of pieces of personal correspondence over the past week regarding Wayne and each one of them basically had a chance to remember their side and perspective of Dad, at the same time express their own piece of grieving. The same pattern has held through 4 visitations and today.
When I decided what to say today and to provide the eulogy of a proud son, I realized that I did not just have a brother and 2 sisters, but rather I was blessed with thousands of brothers and sisters that expressed I different ways as Wayne was a man of the people and a father figure to many. I was just one of the extremely lucky that had immediate, anytime access to most of those facets.
And each of these facets of Dad were lovingly polished across the years and interfaced perfectly with the other in the way a rainbow shines its myriad of coloured lights when White Light is shone upon it. The Light for him (and us) comes internally and externally and it is the dimensions that we carve, cut and display that will bend the light and create the rainbow prism of the people that we are. The display we see is the result of the type and colour of the light, the facets of the stone and the intensity of the light.
We see and feel that Light and radiance. The Light that we give and exude from every part of the spiritus and humanity that we are is rooted in our dimensions. More importantly, it is an extension of what we do with our mind and body and those we chose to keep company with. All based in choices and plan.
In Dads case we could see a bright and warm light radiating from within that reflected different perspectives to different people. That light is based in good company, good friends and a believe in the Uniform, our Country, Spirit and Family, That is what makes each one of us here today have different memories of Wayne. And is that not a gift from Heaven that we have been able to see it?
Even though we may think the light of Wayne has been diminished, the memories and images of the wonderful facets of his life on in each of us. And it then befalls the Free Will Covenant and us if we choose to take up arms again and actually make that light better and stronger by helping others and allowing us to be gentle with ourselves. To stand proud and tall, yet walk with serenity, humility and honour so that we may celebrate life and breathe that memory to make the world a better place for others.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Rest in Peace and thank you Dad.
~~~ Rev. Dr Joel Lamoure July 2012
Blessings to all of us assembled here today with all the infinite (אין סוף) Light, Love and Peace
We met Wayne through 741 Air Cadet Squadron. My son an air cadet and my wife and I as volunteers. Wayne always had a smile and a positive attitude. He loved working with the Air Cadets and was always very supportive. He was a very positive role model and someone all of the cadets looked up to and respected very much. I will miss working with Wayne and learning from him for he was always willing to share his experience and know how. The cadets will miss his smile and boot shining lessons. He will be missed very much by all who knew him!!!
On the afternoon of July 10th I was staining the steps that Wayne built at my cottage on Loon Bay ,Georgian Bay when he and his family were visiting there a few years ago. While working on the steps I was reminiscing about Wayne and the good times we had playing as young children and chatting over good food and wine as adults. It is ironic that as I was working on the steps at my little piece of paradise Wayne was passing on to his Paradise. These steps support and lift me up and point me in the right direction just as Wayne did for me and others during his life. Even though we did not always stay in touch I knew he was just a call away and he would be there to help in whatever was needed. That is the kind of man he was. I will continue to refer to these steps as Wayne's Steps and know that he is nearby watching over me. He is not gone, he is just gone on ahead.
