Obituary of Ward Dickhout
Dickhout, Ward of Aylmer passed away at St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday December 3, 2016 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Irene (Legg) Dickhout for over 63 years. Dear father of Larry Dickhout of Aylmer, Janice Waringer of Woodstock. Grandfather of Tasha O'Connor and Carlee O'Connor and great grandfather of Dean.
Born in Malahide Township on February 28, 1927, son of the late Arthur and Theresa (McKenny) Dickhout. In his early working years Ward was with Ministry of Agriculture as a milk tester. His lifelong passion was working in accounting and preparing tax returns. He was also Sec. Treasurer of North & South Dorchester Mutual Fire Insurance Co. which later amalgamated to Otter Dorchester Insurance Co. in Norwich where he worked until retirement.
He was also Sec. Treasurer of Kettle Creek and Catfish Creek Conservation Authorities for many years. He also was Chairman of the Aylmer Cemetery Board and past member of I.O.O.F. #94 Lodge and received his 50 year jewel a number of years ago. He was a past Elder of St. Paul's United Church and served on the Board of the Aylmer Figure Skating Club. He received a Senior Citizen award in 2002 from the Town of Aylmer.
He was also a volunteer with Tour of Homes, VON Meals on Wheels, and Heart and Stroke.
Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at 1p.m. Interment Aylmer Cemetery.
