Kathleen Schaper posted a condolence
Friday, November 24, 2023
It’s hard to suddenly lose a loved one and be faced while still in shock with the task of writing an obituary. In retrospect, there’s so much that was missed. Henry’s professional life didn’t begin at St. John’s, Aylmer. After qualifying to practice law in Germany he emigrated to Canada where he changed his career course, for the first time, and became a talented and much-loved math and science teacher. It was following that very happy period in his life that Henry answered a higher calling. The rest is history.

Dear Kathleen, William and Jonathon, our thoughts are with you at this time of grief. Although we only knew Henry through Deborah, we are deeply sorry we shall not now have time to know more of him. You were able to know him best as a husband and father, and as a minister, but we were happy to know him for a short time. We shall not forget his visit to us, and his visit to Lourdes, and we were happy to see him last christmas - something we shall not forget. All our love, Evelyne and Gerald

Rev. Schaper married Don and I over 27 years ago. He baptized our three sons. He was also there to comfort my mother when my father passed away. He was an important part of our lives. I will always remember his sermons, because they meant something. You knew he put a lot of thought and work into each and every one. To anyone who was part of the congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church many years ago, he will be remembered as the best minister we ever had. We send our condolences to Kathleen and their sons, William and Jonathan.

Dear Kathleen and family, Cal and I want to assure you that our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. We pray that you will feel the presence of the Holy Spirit guiding you through these troublesome days and weeks. Although we would choose to be with you, it is best that we not try. Both of us have had cataract surgery recently and find the glare of snow very painful. I will share my confirmation verse with you - perhaps you too willo find strength and support from it: Phillippians 4:13 I can do all things through Him Who strengthens me. God bless. Elizabeth and Cal

Dear Kathleen, Bill & Jonathan We were deeply sorry to hear the news about Henry's passing yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time and we offer you our deepest sympathy. We have very fond memories of meeting Henry at Bill and Debbie's wedding five years ago and we shall always remember him as a kind and jovial storyteller. We all shared a wonderful few days prior to and during that time of celebration. It was a real privilege to have met him. Love and Best wishes from Laura, Richard, Adam and Mark
