It is with great sadnesss the family announces that Edmond Janke, 83, passed away in London, ON on October 15, 2015. Edmond "Ray" Janke, passed away at home surrounded by his family. Ed was a Ford man who would not be caught wasting money on anything less than the best! Ed served his country proudly in the Korean War, CAFA # 7 and the 82nd Airborne. The "Woodpecker" will be forever missed by Long Point Bay and fellow anglers. Married to the love of his life Donna (nee Conway) for 57 years. He will be missed by his siblings Al (Doreen) Yahnke (MI) and Margie Furst (Winnipeg). He was an outstanding father and will be deeply missed by his children Donna Jones (Pembroke), Sharol (Scott) Risi (MI), Robert (Trudy) Durden (London), Patty (Paul) Lafontaine (Pembroke), Wayne Janke (Pembroke), Raymond (Pearl) Janke (Florida) and Kimberley (Stephen) Smith of London. "Papa" will be 'a cast-away' to his grandchildren: Jodi (Joey) Costello, Julie (Jonathan) Regier, Desmond, Jordan and Amanda Durden; Krista and Kyle Vanderlip; Tyler and Karyn Smith; Jamie and Stacey Janke. He will be missed by his 6 great grand-children.The family was blessed with the care of Dr. Ken Leslie, Dr. Gregg McCreerey, Dr. Kirk Hamilton and Dr. Duncan Sinclair for their astounding healthcare. The family is extremely grateful for the gift of Alicia Monnet (nurse) and Gareth Whiteside for their never ending love, support, compassion, care, and kindness.A private service will be held.
