Obituary of Robert Greenside
Greenside, It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Thomas Greenside of Fourth Avenue in Aylmer. who passed away on Friday May4, 2012 Robert was born in, Detroit Michigan, U.S.A. on October 10,1918 to the late Percival and Gertrude Greenside (nee Nutkins). Robert moved to London, Ontario in 1922, becoming a Canadian citizen in March 2000. Robert served in the Canadian Armed Forces both at home and overseas from 1939-1945. He fought for our freedom in Great Britain, France, Holland, Algiers and Italy. While in Rome, Robert visited the Vatican and was personally blessed by Pope Pius the 10th. Robert achieved many wonderful things in his life with only public school education including Chief Inspector, Personnel Manager, Plant Superintendent and Loans Manager and owning his own successful business in snowmobile and other recreational vehicles as well as a travel and musical touring agency. A member of Colonel Talbot Branch 81, Royal Canadian Legion, Aylmer. Robert is lovingly missed by his partner of thirteen years, Anny E.M.E. Moerman of Aylmer. Robert is survived by his son Terry Greenside of Woodstock, his daughter Deborah Lee (Graham) Howell of London, his grandchildren Shawn (Jenny) Wattie of Woodstock and Amy Stone of London and his great-grandchildren Tyler and Mackenzie Stone, Sidney and Lydia Wattie. Robert is also sadly missed by his 'adopted' family Larry and Heather Moerman and their children Jaa-Dee, Tasha and Lauren of Selkirk. Robert is survived by his brothers David (Dale) Greenside and Ted (Joan) Greenside, sister Norma Dearmo, sister-in-law Mary and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Robert was predeceased by his wife Florence (nee Handley), his brother George, sister-in-law Beatrice, sister Shirley, brother-in-law Fred Parker, sister Ruth and husband David Makin and sister Betty Greenside. Robert was baptized and confirmed April 10, 2004 by Reverend Gilbert R.J. Simard of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church and accepted into the Catholic faith. A funeral mass arranged through H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home was held Monday, May 7 at 2:30 p.m. Donations to the Diabetes or Kidney Foundation, Robert's charities of choice would be appreciated by the family.
