Shackelton (Smith), Shirley May peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hos-pital, on Monday, April 30, 2012 of Oneida Long-Term Care Facility, Southwold, formerly of London, Ontario in her 94th year. Born in Ly-ons, Ontario, January 11, 1919, daughter of the late Charles W. Smith and the late Robena (Sawyer) Smith. Beloved wife of the late Carmen Ray Shackelton (2006). Dear mother of Joan Lidster (Ron) of London, Ivan Shackelton (Mable) of Brantford, Larry Shackelton (Mary) of Windsor, Darlene McKenzie (Eric) of Victoria, B.C., Sandra VanDuinkerken (John) of Oyster Bay, P.E.I., David Shackelton (Janet) of Harrow, Janet York (John) of Cambridge, Paul Shackelton (Ann Marie) of Elliot Lake, Gregory Shackelton (Brenda) of Tecumseh. Survived by 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and neph-ews. Predeceased by brothers Blake Smith, Donald Smith and Charlie M. Smith, and sisters Annie Weaver, Verlie Bernice Smith and Jean Ostrosser. Also predeceased by infant son, Robert Shackelton, daughter Doreen Hampson, grandchildren Ivana Shackelton, Lia Shackelton, Wilbur Bethune, Deric Bethune, and great-granddaughter Stephanie Shackelton. Shirley was formerly president of the Elgin County Home and School Association was a Counselor and two-term Reeve for Iron Bridge, Ontario. Visitation at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer, Ontario on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Fri-day, May 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Springfield Cemetery.
