Joshua was a guy that was always willing and ready to give help. We met on PE about 2 years ago. He helped me out both in PE and Torn City. He will be missed a lot.

What stands out from the time I knew Josh as a student in my English class was a rather nasty exchange we had one day. I wasn't in a great mood, and neither was Josh, understandably. Our bad moods bumped in to eachother and culminated in his blurting out, "F__k you, Loney!" I (rather unprofessionally) followed him as he left the room, saying, "No. F__k you Josh!" Well, I think we kind of respected eachother for having the nerve to say what we did. After that, we got along just great. He would often stay after class to discuss life. Sadly, much of the conversation was about how he was feeling that day,and what the future held in terms of treatment. Without hesitation, I supported the fundraising efforts to purchase his vest, and later, guided my Leadership class in their efforts to support his transplant.
Sometimes, in an effort to lighten the mood on his rough days, I would say, "Josh, you really need to quit smoking." Atleast it got a smile out of him.
I imagine if I had had a chance to see him near the end, I would have said, "Take care, Josh" And he might have said, "No, you take care, Mr. Loney"
Rest well now, Josh.

I had the pleasure of teaching Josh at East Elgin Secondary. I was very saddened to hear of his loss and immediately thought of his contagious smile and his love for culinary arts. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as they go through this tough time.
