Obituary of Grace Duncan

Duncan, Grace Elizabeth passed away peacefully at Chateau Gardens, Aylmer on Monday September 1, 2014. She was 95. Grace was longtime resident of St. Thomas. Loving Aunt of Donald Matthews and wife Joanne, Alice Matthews, James Duncan, Janice Kalen and husband Rick, Pat Meathrell, Sandra Easthope, Bonnie Mitchell and husband Stanley, John Duncan and wife Mary Lou, Bill Duncan, Cindy Duncan. Great-Aunt to Kris Hale and husband Tony and the late Jeff Matthews, Scott Meathrell, Julie Meathrell, Paul Duncan, Ken Duncan and wife Tunde, Matt Mitchell and wife Tracy, Tara Mitchell, Jen Mitchell. Great great aunt of Charlotte Hale, Bernie Hale, Chloe Duncan, Braeden Mitchell, Keenan Mitchell, Tyler Duncan, Brianne Duncan, Sean Duncan, Erica Duncan, Temple Duncan. She will be sadly missed by her best friend Donna Burgess. Sister-in-law of June Duncan. Predeceased by her sister Hughena Matthews and husband Lorne, brothers William Duncan and wife Helen, Donald Duncan and wife Helen, Ken Duncan and wife Mariette, Charles Duncan. Born in St. Thomas Ontario on May 13, 1919 daughter of the late William and Alice (McGillviary) Duncan. Grace was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Community of Christ Church in St. Thomas. Music gave Grace much joy and she enjoyed playing the organ at Star services as well as at church. She was a hairdresser for number of years. Grace graduated from Hamilton General Hospital as a Registered Nurses Assistant. As an R.N.A. she worked for a number of years at Victoria Hospital, London, the Memorial Hospital on Pearl Street in St. Thomas and retired from the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 10-11 a.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5 at 11 am.Interment, Elmdale Cemetery.
