Obituary of Erik Vantyghem

Vantyghem, peacefully after a couagous battle with cancer at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Erik Camiel Vantyghem of Aylmer in his 64th year. Eric was born in Gistel, Belgium on October 17, 1944 son of the late Charles and Maria (Lecomte) Vantyghem. He came to Canada in 1969, was a resident of Aylmer since 1990 and worked for many years as a brick layer. Eric is an avid fisherman and enjoys the great outdoors. Beloved husband of Ingrid (Hongenaert) Vantyghem. Dear father of Maryke Vantyghem of Aylmer, Erika McDonald and husband Rick of Komoka and Vivian Shwaluk and husband Chris of Ayr. Loving grandfather of Justin and Emily McDonald, Katrina Shwaluk and the late Curtis Shwaluk. Brother of Simone Vantyghem, Fernand Vantyghem and wife Monique, Ben Vantyghem and wife Louise, Roland Vantyghem and wife Sonja and the late Theo Vantyghem and companion Julianna Werbrouck. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Prayers Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 am.
