My wonderful Aunt Kay! Mom's younger sister, who was the daredevil one, and always took my side when mom was being strict! You were there from my babyhood, and throughout my 77 years I have cherished being able to visit you so many times a year. You have been my rock, my grounding and a lot of my identity, since I have always felt and hoped that I took after you. I have depended on frequent visits with you and it will not be the same when I can't be greeted by your smile, your hugs and your great sense of humour. What a strength you have been in your life! And you have passed that strength and humour on to all of us. During the summer of my 18th year, I loved it when we spent many a late night watching wrestling on tv, of all things, and played canasta until the wee hours when you had to get up early, cook, and work in tobacco all day. Thank you for showing me that hard work could be fun and cooking for a gang of workers and anyone who dropped in could be done with ease. And for letting me work at all the jobs in tobacco, when I thought it was fun! I will always remember how important your garden was to you and I can still see you bringing pails of vegetables up to the porch in your bare feet, and cleaning them ready for dinner before anyone else noticed, just like your mother did. I am so grateful to have had you in my life and to have been given so much from you - much of who I am, especially felt in these last few years, and I will keep you with me in fond memory forever. Things I remember about my cousin Kay. Kay was a happy person; loved to have company; worked hard; could do just about anything inside and outside the home. I loved her and I will miss her; her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh. I remember being with her during the war years when we had blackouts, I was afraid and Kay was so gentle and kind - real comfort. One day we were talking about Couse Crafts created by Elizabeth Couse; Wilson's Works, created by Marilyn Wilson. Kay said, "All I have to show is Jones' Junk. Kay had a wonderful, long life and now is enjoying her eternal home. My deepest sympathy to Leonard and Family and Susan and Nicole, my second cousins.
