Obituary of Irene Aitken

AITKEN, Irene Marie (nee Strong) Peacefully at Mt. Nemo Christian Nursing Home, Burlington on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, Irene Aitken in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Wesley Martin and survived by her husband of 45 years, Jim Aitken. Predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Martin, and survived by her daughter Mary-Jane (Jim Reidy) and her granddaughter Elizabeth Den Hollander, and by her son John Aitken and grandsons Levi and Kori. Irene was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 40 years, an avid animal lover and volunteer at Animal Aid in Burlington, as well as a member of the St. George Society. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at H.A. KEBBEL FUNERAL HOME, 119 Talbot St. E., Aylmer on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. followed by interment in Aylmer Cemetery.
