Having Jack as a neighbour was a great joy to us. From the first snowfall of the year you know Jack would soon be out on the snowblower taking care of the driveways all around him. If Jack was busy then the phone call would soon follow to let you know it's time for you to come get the tractor and it was your turn to clean the driveways for him. You never knew when you opened your front door what fruits or vegetables would be waiting for you depending on what was in season. Jack was always ready with a joke or story whenever you were outside or just that big smile of his and a wave if he was on the porch reading his paper. My family had 2 backyard weddings at our home and all of their pictures were taken in Jacks beautiful backyard which he so generously offered to us to use. We are blessed having been neighbours for so many years and Jack we will miss you.

As a young boy I went to a job site with my father and Jack when they were removing and replacing a hardwood floor at a country school between Tillsonburg and Aylmer. As you can imagine, the boys were the 'gophers'(go for this, go for that). After a hard mornings work it was getting close to lunch break, so after nailing a few more strips it was time to head outside to the shade of a large tree to enjoy some well deserved lunch. I tried to get up to head outside only to find that both my pant legs had been nailed to the floor making me completely immobile until I either removed my pants or someone pulled the nails that had me trapped. I don't remember which scenario took place but I know Jack had the biggest laugh and was the prankster responsible.

We are so sorry to hear of Jacks passing. He was a wonderful neighbour and we sure will miss his little visits. My daughters loved going over to get suckers and see the fish, he was so sweet with them. We were so lucky to have him as part of our lives for the short time we have lived on York. Rest in peace
