Obituary of Francis Tisdale

Cyrus Francis Tisdale, in his remarkable 95th year, passed quietly away on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Welcoming him to Heaven are his first wife Pearl (1973) and son-in-law Captain Cecil Graves (1997). Francis will be sadly missed by wife Gladys, daughter Captain Lucy Graves of Kitchener, son Charles Dorcas Tisdale of Lyons, extended family members Dwain and Pat Ankersmit (Tillsonburg), Elaine Peters (St. Thomas) and Bryan and Barb Ankersmit (Massey). Grandchildren Michael and Paula Graves (London), Wendell and Cindy Graves (Aylmer), Majors Lee and Debbie Graves (Ottawa), Christopher and Denise Graves (Kitchener), Callery and Dean Manning (Aylmer), Nicole Tisdale (Kitchener), Matthew Tisdale (Lyons), Jay and Joanna Ankersmit (Ottawa), Cristy and Robert Thiessen (Fairground), Joe and Melissa Ankersmit (Espanola), Laurel Ankersmit (Espanola) and 22 great grandchildren. Born in Yarmouth Township on September 28, 1913 son of the late Matthew and Agnes (Dean) Tisdale. Francis enjoyed life to the fullest and spent all of it at the 180-year-old family homestead on Brouwers Line. Here he never put his tools down and was constantly inventing and rebuilding special projects that only he could dream of. Most importantly, Francis welcomed family and friends to the farm creating many cherished memories. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
