Joanne was such a king hearted person. She always had something good to say about everyone. She made people feel welcome and important and beautiful. On our last day together shopping she asked me what I did to have such beautiful skin, I had no response, I was a bit shocked at her question.She said, no really you have always had beautiful skin and I wondered what you did to get it, do you eat certain foods, do you use products? It was sort of comical, I had never thought of myself as having good skin, but I had always thought Joanne was beautiful, her eyes, her hair, her smile, her heart, inside and out. But it never shocked me that she had such nice things to say to people. She is really missed. So grateful for her friendship over the years. Love Sue

Thinking of the family. A year has passed but it still seems like yesterday I received the news. So heart breaking. I think about Jo often. Hope the children are doing well. She was going to come out west and see me this year, I was so looking forward to that. It's been on my mind all summer, how much fun we would have had, so many things to show her. A year has passed, but there is hardly a day goes by that something will remind me of Jo. Having worked with her I still seeing her writing on her reports, I see her station where she worked, I drive home at night and my mind goes to the neighbourhood where she lived as I drive past. That tragic day comes back to me often. I certainly remembered that it would soon be a year since her tragic death. She is still greatly missed and thought of dearly. It is a great void to not have her in our lives. She was a dear friend who left wonderful memories. I won't forget all the fun times we shared and the good talks. I have wonderful memories of spending time with Aunt Jo. She was always very playful and fun, and was a constant reminder of how to stay positive in any situation. I will never forget our "Beanie Runs", our trips to the beach, our family New Years Eve parties, and our tobagganing escapades. You were a role model in our family and we will not forget how wonderful and full of life you were. Before I got married you sent me a little blue card and in it you wrote "I'm proud of you". Although I was not lucky enough to work with Joanne I had the pleasure of knowing her for the last 12 years.I met Joanne thru Pathways when I had my 3rd child,my 2nd daughter Abbey who was born prematurely and we were referred to Pathways.Joanne was one of the first people from PW to visit my house.She was very professional,kind and just so caring.When she picked up Abbey and told her --"Everything will be ok" I totally believed her.She ended up becoming my friend.She was a truly awesome person and she loved her job.She never seemed down or upset -just bubbly -happy-smiling all the time.I once asked her if life ever got her down to which she replied -Oh sure but you only get one life so you gotta make the most of it and I truly believed she did.When she got pregnant with Olivia she confided in me as I was/am an OLDER Mum.I told her she had to go with her gut and her heart and I don't ever think thought twice about it.Thank goodness at this time in both our lives it was very HOLLYWOOD to be an OLDER Mom ...we laughed about that and said perhaps we should move there...Just prior to Olivia's arrival they came and picked up the crib I used for my LAST child.She was going to buy a new one but I told her she could just take mine as they don't last very long in a crib.Joanne was a very loving Mom -I went to her house many times after Olivia's arrival and nobody loved that little girlie more than she did.I am sorry for the abrupt ending to her life, I believe like many others I am still in shock and I will forever miss my friend,Joanne.I will miss her at PW -seeing her run around with all her little boxes of "stuff" for visits to homes and daycares.I will miss her smiling face ,her kind words but most of all besides her friendship i will miss those twinkling beautiful eyes and sincere smile.I will never forget you my friend Joanne and the world has grown dim with the loss of you...Be well girlie and one day I will see you soon and remember you and I are only "7 1/2" in doggie years........Love you Joanne.

Every year Jo would call and ask me to help with her Christmas shopping and of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch her gleefully tick off the items on her list. This trip usually occurred anywhere from 2-7 days before Christmas, right at the height of the last minute shoppers. Jo just loved being in the crowds. Even though she might have 30 items on her list, with some of them being the hottest toy/gadget for the kids, we would shop until we dropped to get every last item on that list. Then of course the wrapping would start and, if you ever received a gift from Jo, you know the care she took in ensuring it was the most beautifully wrapped gift. I will miss those trips. Sue Face
