Obituary of John Hodgson

Hodgson, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. John Walter (Jack) Hodgson of Springfield in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Beulah (Woolley) Hodgson (1994). Dear father of Mary MacVicar and husband Len of R.R.# 3, St.Thomas, Robert Hodgson and wife Cathy of Unionville and Beth Rickard and husband Larry of R.R.# 1, Mossley. Loved by his grandchildren, Stacie VanLiere and husband Rich, Trisha Belanger and husband Eric, Brent MacVicar and Jamie Lamers, Lara Hodgson, Adria Hodgson and Glenn Thackeray, Mark Hodgson, Julia Hodgson, Michelle Rickard, Heather McCallum and husband Chris and Scott Rickard. Great grandfather of Kyle and Cody, Dylen and Harrison. Brother of Marie Henderson and husband Bill of Aylmer, and predeceased by a sister Mary Fulkerson and a brother Joe Hodgson. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Born in Springfield, Ontario on March 3, 1918, son of the late John and Myrtle (Berdan) Hodgson. Jack lived in Springfield all his life and was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church. He was a retired electrical contractor and a veteran of WW II serving in the Aleutian Islands. Jack was a former member of the Springfield Village Council and the Reeve for 22 years. He was Warden of Elgin County in 1972 and a member of many municipal committees including the Chairman of the Terrace Lodge Building Committee 1975-1977. Jack had served as a trustee of East Elgin Secondary School and was a past member of the Aylmer Curling Club and Pleasant Valley Golf and Country Club. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p-.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Interment, Springfield Cemetery.
