Obituary of Percy Whitcroft

Percy Wayne Whitcroft

After a long and well-lived life, Percy passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at St Thomas Elgin General Hospital. 

Born July 1, 1940, on the farm near Dunboyne, 4th of 6 kids of Charles and Irene Whitcroft. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria (Hepburn) in 2002.   Survived by his wife Marg (Lane Small), his children Jeneen (Paul) Toth, Jackie Matthews, Jay (Jeannot Lebreux), Nicole Kunkel (Mike Silverthorn); grandchildren Jill (Brian), Luc, Mackenzie (Blair), Quinn, Duncan (Emily), Clark and Andrew (Jenna) and his sister Shirley (George) Sanderson.  Also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law Wayne Hepburn, June Whitcroft, Marie Whitcroft, Don & Janet Lane, Betty & Bruce Challis, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Helen Sweetman (Murray) and brothers Leroy, Duane and Ron Whitcroft.

Percy owned Percy’s Esso and later Century Furniture Refinishing in Aylmer. In 1976, he obtained his real estate licence, retiring after a 30+ year career from Showcase East Elgin Realty, as a co-owner. Last year Percy was recognized for 50 years of membership in Ducks Unlimited and the Masons. Throughout his life he has been involved with the Aylmer Kinsmen Club, Tillsonburg and Aylmer Shrine Clubs as well as the Royal Order of Jesters, The Order of Good Cheer, Bait Island and Aylmer Hunt Camp.  His favourite place in the whole world was Camp Percy, where so many memories were made.

Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday from 5-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation-burial, Orwell Cemetery. Donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children would be appreciated.
