Obituary of Louis Toth

The family of Louis Toth, with sadness, but gratitude for a long life well lived, announce his death on October 29, 2024, in his 93rd year. He is survived by his children: Mike Toth and his wife Michele; Cyndy Difazio and her husband Tony; Paul Toth and his wife Jeneen, and by his son-in-law, Steve Laemers and his wife Betty.   He had many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren: Virginia Laemers, her partner Mark Heath and her sons Cole and Conner; Dave and Lindsay Laemers and their daughters Claire and Audrey; Kyle and Leslie Difazio and their son Brooks; Andrew and Marissa Difazio and their sons Calder and Landon; Alex Toth and Zahra Elahipour; Julie Toth and Max Mak; Jill Toth and Brian Zagorodny; Luc Toth.  He is also survived by his brother, Joe Demeter.

He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 72 years, Dorothy, in 2023, and by his infant son Louis, his daughter Theresa Laemers, his grandson Greg Laemers and his sister Anna (Ann) Berthiaume.

Louis and Dorothy were the owners and proprietors of Port Burwell Hardware for 25 years.  During that time, Louis served on the Port Burwell PUC, the Board of Directors of Amtelecom, and was a member of the Vienna Lions Club. After retirement in 1987, they built a house on the lake in Port Burwell where their growing extended family would gather for holidays and summer fun.  They were world travellers and had visited every continent.

The family wishes especially to thank Joselyn Appleford and all the visiting PSWs who have helped care for Dad over the past few years. We also wish to thank Dr. Scott McIntosh for his visits and care over the past several years.

A private family burial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024.  Later that day, everyone is invited to a Celebration of Life from 1 to 4 pm at the Aylmer German Canadian Club, Saxonia Hall, 522 Talbot St. W in Aylmer.
