Obituary of Ron Farrow

Farrow, George Ronald "Ron" of Springfield passed away at Caressant Care, Mary Bucke on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in his 85th year with family by his side. Beloved husband of Mildred (Lang) Farrow. Cherished father of Kevin Farrow (Debbie) of London, Ken Farrow (Stephanie) of Belmont, and Katrina Farrow of Springfield. Loving grandfather of Mackenzie, Devon, Dustin, Darah, Amber and Aiden. Dear brother of Betty Layfield (Bob), Kathy Farquhar (David), and brother-in-law of Terry Bogart, Marion Harris and Dorothy Kilgour. Also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by sisters Sharon Bogart and Anita Swartman (Bob).

Born and raised in Malahide Township, Ontario on May 22, 1940, son of the late "Doc" Eric and Pearl (Arn) Farrow. Ron was known for his athleticism, and growing up he was very active in sports at East Elgin Secondary School. He went on to play football for the University of Western Ontario. Ron started  his career in education as the principal of South Dorchester Public School and later taught at Summers Corners Public School where he was instrumental in introducing library technology. Ron will be remembered for pitching and umpiring baseball in Springfield and surrounding areas, and enjoyed volunteering his time coaching basketball. In the late 70's Ron decided to follow his passion for farming. His greatest joy came from gathering with family and friends. During retirement Ron and Mildred cherished their time with grandkids, travelling with friends, and attending local events as well as travelling north to the Farrow Cottage.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Malahide Community Place, Saturday, September 28th, 11am-4pm. Private internment was held at the Aylmer Cemetery. Donations to East Elgin Secondary School Alumni, Aylmer Area Community Foundation, or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com.
