Obituary of Keith Kennedy

In loving memory of Keith “Fox” Kennedy, who passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Keith was born in 1938 in Huntsville but lived the majority of his life in Belmont. He started his career in construction and then taught high school with TVDSB.  He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Sonja for over 60 years and a cherished father to his children Mike (Kealey), Michelle (Todd), and Mark (Bonnie). He was a loving grandfather to Sean, Jamie, Chelsea, Kate and Maya.  He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Marg Thornicroft (late Bob) and niece Kim (Jody).

Keith had a passion for the community of Belmont and dedicated much of his life to serving others. He was involved in Pee-Wee hockey for over 25 years with the late Jack Cowan “Jugger”. He was a member of the Belmont Lions Club for over 60 years, and was instrumental in forming the first Leo club in 1968. He played a key role in the creation of the Belmont Community Park and the Year 2000 time capsule that will be opened in 2025. Keith also served as a trustee with Bel Parc for many years, leaving a lasting impact on his community. Known for his humour and positive outlook on life, Keith was affectionately known as "Red” or “Fox” by those who knew him. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the ICU at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for their compassionate care.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Dorchester Donnybrook Legion on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 1-4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend the Belmont Lions Club memorial service held at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Belmont Community Park(P.O. Box 128 Belmont) in honor of Keith's dedication to his community. Keith “Fox” Kennedy will be dearly missed but his legacy of service and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.  Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
