Obituary of Leo Van Loy
We are saddened to announce the passing of Leo Victor Van Loy, on June 17, 2024, in his 87th year, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
He is loved and will be dearly missed by his children, Victor and Margaret Van Loy, Peter and Katie Van Loy. His grandchildren, Vanessa and Troy Love, Julia Van Loy and Rodney Jansen, Hadyn Van Loy, Kayla and Patrick Hartman, Cory Gouthro. His great-grandsons, Jace and Connor Love.
Leo will also be missed by his dear friend, Andrea Bowerman.
He is predeceased by his wife Edna Mae (Dolly) June 18/2013. His parents Josef and Marie (Bosmans) Van Loy, brother Bruno Van Loy, sister Rosa DeWaechter Van Loy and daughter-in-law Kimberly (Mitchell) Van Loy.
Leo dedicated his life to his family and farming. He moved to Canada from Belgium, with his parents and began farming, growing tomatoes. Moving on to growing tobacco, also working for Imperial Tobacco in the off season. He later moved on to cash cropping.
His spare time was spent with family and friends. Always enjoying a leisurely drive in one of his antique cars, attending cruise nights and car shows.
Everyday, he and his trusted furry companion would walk the fields checking on the crops. In his later years, you would see two heads in the pickup, cruising the headlands, checking the fields, one of them with their head out the window, tongue and tail wagging...his best buddy, Pinot, who will miss him dearly. Rest peacefully Pop.
We would like to thank the caring, nursing staff of ICCU and 2 North of TDMH. Also, Dr. Vivoda, Dr. Abdalla, Dr. Blake and Dr. McKelvie for your care and compassion for Dad.
Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at the Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Donations to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
