In 1974 Kesty, Vern Shaver, Dan Corneilson, Richard Hartwell and myself, Dougal Hines drove my 74 Vega to Daytona Beach Florida in a 24 hour road trip durring "Spring Break". Needless to say, the little hatchback was stuffed. Eight track tapes of the Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix and Jethro Tull were playing the whole night through. Daytona Beach was packed with students from around the nearby states, Ontario & Quebec. We camped in front of the Daytona 500 motorcyle race track. A bus load ot students arrived from Kent State after the riots. The sherriff showed up with a pit bull on a chain and a shot gun in his hand. We were 16/17 year old boys from southern Ontario. The drinking age down there was 21. If I remember correctly, it was Kesty & Richard that ended up in the paddy wagon. We had to call some parents to get them out of jail and headed out of town. The parties on the beach were insane. Tommy James & the Shondales were there and frizzbes were flying across the sand strip along the beach.
We all had long hair and agreed that American beer was not Old Vienna.
