I just today heard of Ken’s death (Nov 22). I am so glad that I made it to the Springwater school reunion this past summer where I had great conversation with Ken. My sister and I attended Springwater school with Ken, his older brother Dave and younger brother Bob. Ken was an original, like his father before him! Ken was an excellent shot and represented East Elgin in cadet marksmanship competitions. He also was a keen basketball player and was instrumental in making important foul shots in a WOSSA victory at Thames Hall, UWO for the East Elgin Purple Flashes as they were called in those days (1958).
It was great to hear Ken recite “The Yarn of the Nancy Belle” by W.S. Gilbert at the Springwater reunion! Condolences to Ken’s wife and family. We will miss him

My utmost condolences to Karen and all the extended White family especially Bob, Rose and Jim. I knew Ken through his many years of involvement with the East Elgin Sportsmen’s Association.
Springwater Mills was built by a strong determined man on a single-minded mission. Frank Sinatra said it best when he penned the lyrics, “Did it My Way”.
It was through Ken’s political activism that I came to know, respect and admire him. We and many others were determined to thwart a misdirected federal Bill which is still being fumbled by successive governments.
I will be making a memorial donation in Ken’s name to Hospice of Elgin.

Ken had such a talent for memorization and his ability to recite these verses with such emotion. He was a wonderful storyteller! He was animated and entertaining, captivating!

I have many fond memories with Ken when I was younger. Always willing to pick me up to go to a shooting event and listening to his advice and stories along the way. He was someone I looked up to when we went shooting.
Sara and I would like to send our condolences and we will be thinking of all your families.

So sorry to hear of Kens passing. Some of my fondest memories are from the mill and flour mill. My Dad worked for Ken and his Dad. Till he bought his own mill. One of the first people to come to the house when I was born with little baby shoes was Ken , Bob and Dave. Later my husband trucked logs for Ken. I have great memories of his Mom and Dad too. Rest in peace and may your soul roam the mill property in Peace. .

My uncle Ken was a fascinating fixture in my life since I was a child. I lived just across the road, and I would visit Ken, my grandfather (Albert), and my grandmother (Leona) often. They all lived nearby. We would discuss all kinds of things. Often I would go fishing in the mill pond, or I would look for arrowheads in the field just south of the mill. Uncle Ken was a expert about trees, and he was an avid hunter & fisherman. Both my father (David) and his brother Ken were very knowledgeable about nature in general. During my high school years I worked at his lumber mill in the summertime. This is where I learned how to identify trees by twigs and bark, even without seeing the leaves. I ended up being an arborist, ie tree expert, in part because of Ken and his family. His children are the greatest!
I shall miss my uncle, greatly. Rest In Peace young man!
