Obituary of John Siemens

John Siemens

December 24, 1950 - August 21, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John, who peacefully left this world on August 21, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 24, 1950, John lived a life that touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

John was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Elizabeth, whom he married on June 25, 1974. Their love story was one of unwavering commitment and companionship, spanning almost five decades. Together, they navigated life's joys and challenges, building a foundation of love and support for their family.

A dedicated father, John was blessed with three wonderful children: Johnny, Linda, and Judy. He embraced parenthood with open arms, guiding, nurturing, and instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and hard work. He found immense joy in witnessing their growth and successes, celebrating every milestone as a testament to the strong family bonds he had cultivated.

As a grandfather, John continued to spread his love and wisdom to the next generation. He treasured his role as "Papa," beaming with pride at the accomplishments of his seven adored grandchildren: Jonathan, Jessica (and her husband Joel), Anthony, Alex, Ryan, Leland, and Makynleigh. His presence was a source of warmth and comfort, creating cherished memories that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Professionally, John spent many years as a skilled mechanic at RJR Mc Donald, where his dedication and expertise were evident to all who worked alongside him. After years of hard work and dedication, he ventured into self-employment, where he continued to shine in his craft. His tireless work ethic and passion for problem-solving made him a respected figure within his community.

Retiring at the age of 58, John embarked on a new chapter of life, embracing his role as a family patriarch and an inventive creator. His whole life, his workshop was a haven for his creativity and ingenuity, where he delighted in fixing, inventing, and finding innovative solutions to various challenges. His resourcefulness and knack for turning ideas into reality were truly remarkable.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was known for his boundless generosity and joking nature. He was always ready to extend a helping hand to family and friends in times of need, embodying the spirit of selflessness and compassion. John possessed a witty and joking spirit that could light up any room. His sense of humor was a gift he shared freely, brightening even the darkest of days.  His legacy of kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

In honor of John's memory and the battles he faced towards the end of his journey, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. By supporting this organization, we can contribute to the ongoing research, care, and support for those affected by this debilitating disease. Let us come together to honor John's memory by making a difference in the lives of others, just as he did throughout his own life.

As we say our final goodbyes to John, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the lessons he shared with us. May his memory inspire us to embrace our loved ones, lend a helping hand, and cherish every moment we have together. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.  The funeral will be held at the Reinland Mennonite Church on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
