Obituary of Doug Young

Douglas Wayne Young, (71) of Aylmer, Ontario, passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on July 31, 2023.

Douglas was born May 14, 1952, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Up until his diagnosis in 2001, Doug was a teacher for over 30 years. Post retirement, his passion for teaching never dwindled. Even in his final weeks, he was still working towards composing an innovative program to improve and excel technological learning systems across Canada. Doug was also very passionate about music, history, and spending quality time with his family that he treasured so profoundly.

Beloved husband and best friend of Sharon (Adams) Young. Loving father of Stefan (Stephane), Kristin (James), Whitney and Kaitlynn. He will be missed terribly by his grandchildren Luca, Jude, and Eva. Cherished son-in-law of Mervie Adams, brother-in-law of Geoff. Douglas was predeceased by the man he regarded highly as a father figure, his father-in-law Morley Adams.

Doug was looked upon as a second father to many of his daughter’s friends. He never hesitated to offer his help and support, and he accepted everyone for who they were. He made such a huge impact on many people’s lives during his years on this Earth, and touched the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be missed terribly by his family and friends. Our lives will never be the same without his physical presence here with us, but his spirit will carry on through all of those who loved and cherished him.
