My family grew up on Warren street in Aylmer, in the 60's, across from Ken and Olive.
Ken would drive us to school in the snow sometimes. Olive was a
good friend to my mom having tea with her amid the stress of 6 children.
My younger brother Allan would play with Kenneth when he came to visit.
They were always generous at Christmas with a big basket of treats, and
would call to tell us they saw Santa in his sleigh near our roof.
In later years I moved to Vancouver, but "Auntie" Olive and I kept in touch
through letters, cards and phone calls. Every couple of years I would try to
visit family in Aylmer and always went to have a visit over tea and brownies with her.
Her welcoming arms with a big loving hug was just wonderful. We always found
lots to talk about. My last visit with her about 5 years ago she gifted me with a
candy dish that was a wedding gift to them. She told me a story of how when she walked
me to school I would always want to stop and look at the candy jars in Joe Ledados store.
and tell her someday I would have a candy store of my own. A few years ago I achieved
my dream.
I spoke to her on Valentines day and had a nice chat.
While in Aylmer recently visiting family,I tried calling to surprise her, the same day she passed away.
Now I will celebrate her memory drinking tea from one of the lovely tea cups she gave my mom
every year on her birthday, which happens to be May 12th.
I loved Auntie Olive like a second mother, her laugh, warmth, sense of humour and wisdom, I will cherish.
Our Condolences to Beth, girls and family members.

My husband, Larry and I had the privilege to meet Olive and Ken through a mutual friend, Ross Munn. Olive and Ken were indeed the true definition of a lady and a gentleman.
Olive had such a heartfelt laugh and she was the best hugger! She drew you right into her warm embrace.
She had a great sense of humour. When she couldn’t recall something, she would say “ My forgetter is working really well,”
We enjoyed many a luncheon at the Pinecroft and then usually a drive in the country, and an ice cream from Shaws.
Olive wrote the best notes; I have some of her notes tucked into a book called “ The Art of the Handwritten Note”.
Olive gifted me with her Florence Nightingale Lamp which she received when she graduated from nursing in 1948. As a retired nurse, I treasure this and what it had meant to her. Nursing then was indeed a calling.
Larry and I feel truly blessed to have known Olive and Ken; and we send our sincere condolences to their family and dear friends.

On remembering Olive. Tom & Yvonne Stout
I have the most loving memories of Olive throughout my marriage to
Mary and especially her care and support following Mary’s death. They
have continued in an unbated fashion to Yvonne and I. She surely lived
a life of Christian love.

I met Olive through an interest in postage stamps. She saved them and through my sister Jo Purvis who worked there she learned that I collected them. She would send me stamps that she had received. I would visit her and we became pen pals - I would send her mail from various places. She was a friend who will be dearly missed.

Or needed someone to talk to she was there! She will be deeply missed! To the family I’m so very sorry

I got to know Olive as I was a housekeeper at Metcalfe Gardens. I will always remember how she would blow kisses as hugging was out due to covid. Olive loved to knit and made me a blanket for my trailer which I will treasure. Wonderful ĺady!

Please accept my deepest condolences on Olive’s passing.
I was a receptionist at Metcalfe Gardens while Olive was living there and I always enjoyed our little chats when she stopped by the front desk. She always had a kind word and always put a smile on my face. She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Where do I begin? Olive was such a sweet and kind woman. She was my mom's best friend as they grew up. As cousins they grew up as part of railroad families and were never far apart. I loved her smile and her cheeky wit. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone and took things in stride with such grace that I can merely only hope to achieve. She always gave warm hugs and was quick to let me know that she loved me. She was immensely proud of her family and loved sharing their stories with me. She made lasting friendships wherever she went. A true lady to say the least...
There is no void left behind because I know in some way that she is still with me. I will miss this dear soul terribly. A rare gem that made my world a better place.
My thoughts and condolences are with her and her family at this difficult time.
