Obituary of Gerry Hertner
Hertner, Anthony Gerald “Gerry” of Aylmer passed away at Aylmer Retirement Residence on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Wendy Hertner(Whaley), the late Nelly Hertner(Hooghiem) and the late Joanne Hertner(Knevel). Dear father of Jim(Grace), Bob(Donna) and Marianne Speers(Jerry). Step-father of Andrea Mulder(John), Michelle Knevel, Almyra Persson(Leif), Peter Knevel, David Bachner and Susan Bachner(Harold). Loving grandfather of Kyle(Sarah), Quinn(Ashley), Jordan(Joseph), Nathan, Carter, Aaron, Andrew and Angela(Morgan). Great-grandfather of Holden, Claire, Anthony, Theo, Orlin, Julian as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Survived by mother-in-law June Whaley. Brother of Charles, Betty and Mary. Predeceased by his brothers Ron and Jim. Born in Malahide Township on October 14, 1935, son of the late Anthony and Vera (Tate) Hertner. Gerry spent most of his life living in Copenhagen. His early years of work began fixing televisions at Tate’s and later worked at Clarke Equipment where he retired. He enjoyed gardening and beekeeping. He had a talent and love for growing roses. Gerry was a member of the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday from 5-8:00p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
