It is with profound sadness that I have just heard of Alex’s passing. My deepest condolences to Evelyn, Larry and Laurie, their children and grandchildren during this time of great loss. Alex was a kind and generous man, well respected amoung his piers in the community. He offered me employment as a young girl and taught me to work as an egg grader on the farm. I also helped Evelyn with some household chores and babysat the children. May you all find peace in the memories that you all shared together.

Dear McNeil families,
I am very sorry to hear of Alex's death. When I was young we often came to Lyons to visit Alex and Evelyn and Larry and Laurie. We were always warmly received. I thought that it was fun to see the names Alex and Eve on the barn as those are the names of my grand-parents. At my grand-father Alex McNeil's funeral we stayed with Alex and Eve. At breakfast I was
shocked to see Alex heaping his toast with Maple butter. At our house Maple Syrup was precious but on the farm it seemed to be plentiful. Last summer we visited Alex and Eve in the Mapleton cemetery beside all the McNeil's who have gone before. Alex with his wry sense of humour joked that someday we might be visiting but he might be underground. I didn't think it would be this soon.
From the pictures it looks as though Alex and Evelyn have had very full lives with their children and grand-children and great-grand-children playing a huge part in their lives. It is lovely to see! Thanks for the memories, Rest in Peace
Anna-Marie Hafner (Jean McNeil)

Our deepest condolences to Evelyn,Larry,Laurie and families.
I can remember the first time l saw Alex, it was when he came to the public school l went to (Anger School S.S.#9) at lunch time to see his sweetheart (Miss Smith) my teacher at the time.
My mom and dad became friends with them and we would visit back and forth. Alex favourite drink back then was Pepsi.
May all your memories help you through this difficult time and the days forward!

Our sincere condolences to Evelyn, Larry and Laurie and their families. The Mower family and the McNeil family were friends from the 1960s and we remember many good times shared with them. Alex and Dad did custom work together for several years and Linda and I got our first jobs as teenagers working for them. We will really miss Alex...he always had a smile to greet you and a yearning to catch up on recent happenings. With sympathy Larry and Nancy Pigram.
