Obituary of Rachel Smith

Smith, Rachel Alexandra of Aylmer passed away in St. Thomas on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in her 33rd year. She will be forever missed by her son Jackson “Jack”, who was her pride and joy. She was the loving daughter of Jeffrey and Jocelyn (Corless) Smith, and dear sister of Kara Mayer (David) of Belleville and Grace Smith of Aylmer. Rachel was the cherished granddaughter of Gene and Sylvia Corless, Terry and Gayle Smith, and Karen and Alex Currie. Rachel is also survived by her two nephews, Noah and Rory, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Rachel was born in Collingwood, Ontario on January 14, 1991. She graduated from East Elgin Secondary School and went on to obtain her diploma in Respiratory Therapy from Fanshawe College. She excelled in many sports, especially basketball, soccer, and cross country. Rachel had the most beautiful blue eyes, an infectious laugh, and her smile lit up the room. Her favourite pastimes were playing Mini Sticks and Lego with Jack and she was a master at puzzles with an unrivaled sense of style. She will live on in our hearts forever as our beloved Rach.

Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday, February 10 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. The service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, Aylmer on Saturday, February 11 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow. Donations would be appreciated to Jackson O’Brien’s education fund (cheques payable to Jeff Smith). Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
