Obituary of Ann Vanderveen
Anna Marie (Ott) Vanderveen passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Hans Vanderveen. Ann and Hans were blessed with two children, Brian Hans Vanderveen and Kathleen Marie Vanderveen - and by the addition of Brian�s wife Lisa Michelle Vanderveen and Kathleen�s partner Darryl Brad Backus. Ann was also dear Oma to Brian and Lisa�s three children: Nicole Marie, Liam Joseph, and Laura Kathleen Vanderveen. In addition to these, her immediate family, Ann was blessed and will be sorely missed by a number of brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces from both the Ott and Vanderveen families as well as her dear mother-in-law Homiena Vanderveen. Ann�s death has also left a hole in her community, her church and her circle of friends. Ann is predeceased by her parents Peter and Maria Ott, her father-in-law Frank Vanderveen, brother-in-law Tony Vandorp and dear friend Don Vance.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Donahue, Dr. Baker, Dr. Ann Howe and all the nursing staff at STEGH for their compassion, their care and their professionalism during this difficult time. Open visitation will be held at Kebbel�s funeral home in Aylmer on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. A private family funeral will be held at Mapleton Church of Christ (Disciples) on Satrursday, September 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. the church where Ann and Hans have been active and valued members for the past 11 years. A cremation and an interment will be held at a later date. Those wishing to express their concern and appreciation to Ann�s family are encouraged to make donations on her behalf to the Canadian Cancer Society.
