Well Grampa…. You would hate this but I have to get mushy…
I will miss you more than you know, Thankyou for being the man who could fix anything, who built me my “dream” furniture as a little girl. Playing house was way more fun with custom appliances! Thankyou for taking me on all of the snowmobile and “big red” 3 wheeler rides, fishing, out to chase the loons on the lake, for boat rides and protecting me from the bears!
I loved canning with you and learning your recipes, having you help me master your Mums bread recipe, sharing your love of history and reading.
You gave me my first business loan…. $1800 to buy my table and equipment in 2004. A full repayment plan was required first!
You were always big and a bit gruff but you were a marshmallow inside.
I can’t believe you had 96 chapters in your book….and you remembered them all. Growing up on the prairies during the depression, leaving home to work at 15, enlisting as a flight engineer in WWII, meeting Nana at an army dance, all the hunting and fishing trips, retiring from the railroad….just a snippet of who you were.
Thankyou God for choosing him as my Grampa (and having me crash his retirement party with a premature birth….I like to make an entrance) but as he would wish me a happy birthday I’d congratulate him on another year of doing whatever the heck he wanted!
I was soooo lucky to have you, Thankyou for always showing an interest in what I was doing, always asking about Logan on every phone call and for supporting me. You will be missed. Not a loaf of bread will be made without thinking of you.
Love you for always xo
