Obituary of Dick Haayema

 Haayema, “Dick” Dirk of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Sally (Hooghiem) Haayema. Dear father of Tony(Ann) of Port Bruce, Andy(Brenda) of Aylmer, Rick(Nell) of Eden and Jeff(Trish) of Manitoulin Island. Loving grandfather of  Scott(Ashley), Brandon(Hilda), Aaron(Erin), Gareth(Hannah), Zach, Samantha(Greg), Alyssa(Kevin) and great-grandpa of Drew, Adrienna, Margaret, Eleanor, Arthur, Carter and Miller. Also survived by his sister Jane of Hamilton and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Bill and Mike and a sister Doet. Dick was proud to have served many clients with Great West Life Insurance and Wealth Management. Dick and Sally were strong supporters of their families’ endeavours. His greatest joy was his family. Dick was an avid golfer and a faithful member of the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church. Born in Friesland, The Netherlands on March 26, 1932, son of the late Tony and Agnes (Van Der Kooi) Haayema. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, friends and family who wish to attend the visitation may call the funeral home at 519-773-8400 between 9am-5pm. (Masks and social-distancing are required) Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
