Obituary of Maurice Vandecasteele
Vandecasteele, Maurice of Aylmer passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on Monday, May 31, 2021 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Eliane (Van Den Eeckhout) Mattheus. Dear father of Shirley Evely(Craig) of R.R.1, Springfield and Ron Vandecasteele(Lisa) of London. Loving grandfather of Caitlyn, Jordan, Noah and Richard. Also survived by a sister Ester(Jules), a brother Sylvere, sister-in-law Celina, step-children Dan Mattheus and Suzanne Mattheus(Bob) and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Mary and Martha. Maurice came to Canada in 1955, where he was a dairy farmer on Wilson Line in South Dorchester Township and then moved to Aylmer in 1991. Maurice was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church. He worked at Imperial Tobacco. Maurice loved fishing in Lake Erie, Port Loring and Lake Whittaker. Born in Stuivekenskerke, Belgium on October 19, 1931, son of the late Jerome and Lucy Vandecasteele. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, friends who wish to attend the visitation on Thursday, June 3 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home can call the funeral home at (519 773 8400) to register. A private family funeral service will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. and will be available for livestream. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Donations to the Arthritis Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church would be appreciated.
